UAE has approved emergency registration of Moderna’s vaccine to combat variants
By inoculating more than 72.1 percent of the country’s population, the UAE has become the world’s most fully vaccinated country, overtaking Seychelles to rank number one in terms of total doses administered per 100 people.
The national vaccination program has administered 15.5 million doses, according to Bloomberg Vaccine Tracker, prompting Minister of Health and Prevention Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais to praise the country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The proactive vision of the country’s leadership enabled us to address the challenges posed by COVID-19,” he said.
On Monday, the Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that 40,434 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered during the past 24 hours.
The total number of doses provided up to today stands at 15,574,641 with a rate of vaccine distribution of 157.47 doses per 100 people, it said.
The ministry had on On Sunday approved the emergency registration of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to better combat cases of the Beta, Delta and Alpha variants.
