Algeria’s Sonatrach starts production in new gas field

Sonatrach has had 13 CEOs since 1999, a sign of chronic instability at the oil and gas firm.
  • The company announced the completion of production of the Tinrhert gas field at the end of November 2022
  • Algeria has signed many energy agreements with European countries during the current year

Algiers, Ageria – Algeria’s Sonatrach announced Sunday the start of production in a new gas field in Illizi province, southeast of the country.

In a statement, the company announced the completion of production of the Tinrhert gas field at the end of November 2022.

The statement indicated that the production levels exceeded the expectations.

Algeria is one of Europe’s major gas suppliers.

The country has signed many agreements with European countries during the current year, in light of the turmoil that shook the global energy markets following the Russian-Ukrainian war.
