Jordan king discusses trade, regional issues in talks with Oman sultan

Muscat, Oman – Jordan King Abdullah and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman on Tuesday agreed to advance economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in trade, investment, and industry.

The two leaders, in their talks at Al Alam Palace, which were also attended by Jordanian Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on maintaining coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual concern, especially  food security and energy.

They also called for the Oman-Jordan Joint Committee to reconvene after the royal visit.

King Abdullah expressed appreciation for Oman’s position and continuous efforts to bolster security and stability in the region. He also emphasised the centrality of the Palestinian cause, the importance of supporting the Palestinians as they seek their just and legitimate rights, and the need to achieve just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Discussions also focused on the importance of reaching political solutions to regional crises, in order to restore security and stability to the region.
