Lebanon Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who is on an official visit to Egypt discussed the prospect of importing gas from the country.Â
Mikati held a meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly in Sharm El-Sheik on Monday in the presence of an accompanying Lebanese official delegation including Minister of Youth and Sports, George Kallas, and Lebanon’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ali Al-Halabi.Â
On the Egyptian side, Egyptian Minister of Energy, Mohamed Shaker, and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Tarek El-Molla, attended the meeting.Â
Discussions reportedly focused on the process of exporting Egyptian gas from Egypt to Lebanon.
Meanwhile, both sides agreed to sign a preliminary agreement between Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. Â
Dr. Madboulyr informed Mikati that Egypt was preparing a shipment of medical and food aid to be sent to Lebanon by sea.Â
It was also agreed to export Lebanese agricultural produce to Egypt.
