Saudi authorities foil bid to smuggle amphetamine tablets: Official

  • All the tablets were hidden inside a shipment of beans in plastic molds in the form of bean pods.

Saudi Arabian authorities said Wednesday that they thwarted an attempt to smuggle 403, 000 amphetamine tablets into the kingdom.

An official statement said the “security follow-up of drug smuggling and promotion networks targeting the security of the kingdom and its youth resulted in thwarting of the smuggling attempt”

The tablets that were seized from a Syrian national, who is also a citizen of Jeddah governorate, were hidden inside a shipment of beans in plastic molds in the form of bean pods.

Major Mohammed Al-Nujaidi, spokesperson of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) noted the Ministry of Interior, with all its security sectors, and in coordination with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, will confront anyone who targets the kingdom’s youth with narcotics.
