DUBAI, UAE – UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its counterpart in Chile to exchange knowledge and expertise in energy and advance this vital sector locally and globally.
Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, and Ximena Fuentes, Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Chile, signed the MoU at the ministry’s headquarters in Dubai.
Under the MoU, the two sides will exchange information, knowledge and expertise; hold high-level meetings to discuss issues of mutual concern; organise relevant academic research; enhance their cooperation in clean and renewable energy; host related workshops, and launch initiatives that support public-private partnerships in both the countries.
Al Olama lauded the bilateral relations between the UAE and Chile, which have significantly advanced in recent years due to the support of their leadership.
He stressed that the MoU adds to the historic overall strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.
He then pointed out that such partnerships support the transition to clean and renewable energy and the approaches of the two countries to implement projects under the Paris Climate Agreement.
The MoU will also support the efforts to the two countries to diversify their energy mix and utilize clean energy, he added.
