UAE keen to foster cooperation with ASEAN, says Foreign Affairs Minister

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, reviewed the prospects of fostering joint cooperation across various sectors with Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The two sides hailed the distinguished relations between the UAE and the ASEAN group in a meeting held at Dubai Expo 2020, media reports said.

The two parties reviewed the role of Expo 2020 Dubai in reinforcing the cooperation between the UAE and the ASEAN group and its importance in promoting international partnerships and coordination between countries in all areas.

The reports said that Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed praised the outstanding relations between the UAE and the ASEAN countries.

Sheikh Abdullah concluded by highlighting the UAE’s keenness to further boost joint cooperation and build fruitful partnerships in many strategic sectors of common interest.

According to a report by Dubai Chamber, the UAE accounted for 74 percent of GCC investments in ASEAN markets over the last five years.
