UN will support Iraq’s efforts for development, prosperity: Official

The head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, has said the UN will continue supporting Iraq for development and prosperity.

Iraqi media reports said that Hennis-Plasschaert “extended our best wishes to the Iraqi people on the occasion of the New Year”.

She said, “The year 2021 was a very important year for Iraq, and although many challenges remain, it is important to acknowledge what has been achieved and appreciate the opportunities that the New Year will provide.”

“The UN has stood steadfastly by Iraq in the past and will continue to support the country’s efforts for development and prosperity,” she said.
