KUWAIT CITY — There is an urgent need for a unified Arab position to address the dissemination of content that contradicts Islamic principles and lacks respect for Arab societies’ values and ethics by international media platforms, said Saudi Arabia’s Media Minister Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosary.

He was speaking at the 16th session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers in Kuwait. The meeting was chaired by the Republic of Iraq, and information ministers and media delegation heads from member states of the office were in attendance.

Al-Dosary called for the creation of clear and common executive mechanisms to crystallize the Arab countries’ position and examine the extent to which these platforms must comply with publishing controls within the countries. Unified measures should be taken if these platforms violate any of these controls.

Al-Dosary emphasized the significance of using media to promote a culture of cooperation, dialogue, tolerance, and respect for diverse values and cultures, with the aim of achieving prosperity for people.

He also stressed the importance of respecting values and the right of society to safeguard its values and culture.

The minister reiterated his commitment to supporting efforts to develop joint Arab media action to achieve the aspirations of Arab leaders and people.

He expressed his appreciation to the members of the Standing Committee for Arab Media and the Media and Communication Sector of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States for organizing the meeting and preparing the recommendations, draft resolutions, and agenda.
