Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—.The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has introduced a new material of high-density polyethylene with mechanically recycled content (HDPE T3K01B) within its Trucircle product range.

The company said the new product is part of the company’s commitment to contribute in promoting the circular economy of plastics.
The new material was specially developed for motor oil and lubricant oil bottles manufactured through blow molding technology, and contains approximately 30 percent of post-consumer mechanically.

SABIC’s launch of HDPE T3K01B adds to its TruCircle initiative, which includes mechanically recycled materials, end-of-cycle initiatives for plastic waste, design-for-recycling services, and certified circular products made from advanced recycling of used plastics, and certified renewable polymers based on biofeeds.

Abdullah Al-Otaibi, General Manager of Engineering Thermoplastics and Market Solutions at SABIC, said this project is the first of its kind for mechanical recycling, which shows the feasibility of expanding the scope of circular solutions and joint experiences to extend the life of plastic and restore value from waste oil bottles after consumption.
