RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi visited the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) headquarters.
The secretary general was received by Dima Al Yahya, Secretary General of DCO.
Albudaiwi said that the DCO plays an important role in Saudi Arabia, in employing technology for digital economies that serve the goals of sustainable development.
He said the DCO highlights the importance of e-development and helps in enabling countries to keep pace with the rapid growth of the digital economy.
He stressed on the importance of digital cooperation between the GCC and the DCO, which contributes to serving common interests.
Albudaiwi also highlighted the importance of digital economy through the advancement, innovation and the development of strategies and programs with promising opportunities.
The secretary general pointed out that the directives of the Supreme Council of the GCC, issued in its 41st session held in January 2021, to strengthen the existing cooperation and partnership relations between the Cooperation Council and countries, regional and active international organizations.
He also discussed about the implementation of joint action plans.
Albudaiwi said that the two sides agreed to move forward in holding a number of events that will be jointly coordinated with regard to digital cooperation.
He indicated that the youth and women would have enhanced participation in such events on digital cooperation.
He praised the efforts made by Saudi Arabia in this connection and also the Organization’s efforts to continue encouraging digital and economic cooperation between countries of the world.
