MOSCOW, RUSSIA – Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered assistance in helping to deescalate the tense situation in the Gaza Strip, according to the Kremlin’s press service.
This offer was made during a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The Russian side is ready to offer all possible assistance to relieve the suffering of civilians and deescalate the conflict,” the Kremlin’s statement read.
The conversation also included discussions on continued cooperation regarding the evacuation of Russian nationals and family members from the region, as well as efforts to secure the release of Israelis held hostage in Gaza.
Both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing contact.
This development follows a series of talks Putin held earlier this week with influential leaders from the region, including the Saudi Crown Prince, and the Presidents of the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Egypt.
These discussions have placed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict at the forefront of international diplomatic efforts.
The last conversation between Putin and Netanyahu occurred on October 16, shortly after the escalation of the current conflict. In that call, Putin expressed Russia’s readiness to assist in resolving the situation.
In a related development, President Putin has briefed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on his recent trips to the UAE and Saudi Arabia during a telephonic conversation.
“Vladimir Putin shared his impressions following his visits and talks with Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Moscow,” the Kremlin’s press service reported.
The two leaders also discussed various aspects of Russian-Egyptian cooperation, which they described as developing successfully.
They expressed mutual interest in further expanding this cooperation in various areas, emphasizing the principles of a traditionally friendly strategic partnership.
This series of high-level discussions indicates Russia’s active involvement and strategic interest in Middle Eastern affairs, particularly concerning the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and regional cooperation.
