Commercial vehicle sales in China soar 79.6% in January

Beijing, China–China’s commercial vehicle sales soared 79.6 percent year on year to 324,000 units in January, according to industry data.

Specifically, some 289,000 trucks were sold during this period, a surge of 81.8 percent year on year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

A total of 35,000 coaches were sold last month, an increase of 63.4 percent compared with the same period of 2023, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The data also revealed that China’s commercial vehicle exports had reached 74,000 units in January, up 46.9 percent year on year.

A total of 3.26 million such vehicles were sold domestically last year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

China exported some 770,000 commercial vehicles in 2023, jumping 32.2 percent from one year earlier, said the association.

The country’s truck sales surged 22.4 percent year on year in 2023, while those of coaches rose 20.6 percent, the data also reveals.
