Eazy, Discover partner to expand card acceptance

    • Discover and Diners Club International and network alliance cardholders can use cards at all ATMs in Bahrain
    • Eazy Financial’s upcoming First National cards customers can access Discover Global Network

A recent tie-up between Eazy Financial Services and Discover is expected to enable Discover and Diners Club International and network alliance cardholders will be able to use their card at 95 percent point-of-sale merchants and 100 percent ATMs in Bahrain.

According to a statement, once Bahraini biometric service provider Eazy Financial issues its First National cards, its customers too will gain access to the Discover Global Network, enabling them to make transactions at more than 50 million merchants in more than 200 countries and territories.

“This Partnership with Discover empowers Eazy with the quickest, most effective way to re-engineer its business strategies and take us forward by providing significant customer acquisition opportunities. Ultimately, Discover will provide our customers with a trustworthy, secure and unified Global Card Acceptance network,” said Nayef Tawfeeq Al Alawi, the founder, managing director and CEO of Eazy Financial Services.

“Continually growing acceptance in this area will benefit all of the cardholders of our regional partners, Eazy Financial has a strong footprint in the country and working together will provide its cardholders a strong card product,” said Matt Sloan, vice-president of international markets at digital bank and payments company Discover.

Through their biometric platform, Eazy provides its clients with a convenient and secure method of performing various biometric payment transactions for cash withdrawals, and several offerings including in-store payments and in-branch customer experiences, the statement said.

This partnership is Discover’s second network alliance signed in the past year in Bahrain and will grow acceptance to almost 100 percent for Discover Global Network cardholders transacting in the country. It is also the sixth alliance agreement Discover has signed in the Mena region.
