Dubai Health Authority introduces online health inspections

    • 63 facilities inspected online in 21 hours against 84 hours normal inspections would have taken

    • Online inspections also spared officials physical contact during Covid-19 regulations

The Dubai Health Authority said on Thursday it has introduced online inspections for health facilities to both create an adaptive environment and accelerate the pace of adopting digital technology.

While in-person inspections will continue, the DHA’s Health Regulation Sector will adopt the digital method for areas where online inspections are possible.

Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of Health Regulation Sector, said while adapting to changes during the pandemic, the authorities saw an opportunity to enhance online inspections where possible such as checking new services that are introduced in healthcare facilities.

“The inspections will ensure faster turnaround time, more efficiency and will save costs as well. We have always focused on using healthcare technologies to improve efficiencies, speed up processes and provide our stakeholders with added convenience,” he said.

In February this year, the sector introduced the pilot and in March, it began implementing online inspections.

Dr Al Mulla said that so far 63 healthcare facilities were inspected online in a total of 21 hours against the 84 hours in-person inspections would have taken normally.

He said not only was time saved but officials were spared physical contact, which helped maintain anti-Covid measures.

In 2020, he added, the DHA carried out more than 7,700 inspections across medical facilities in the Emirate.
