ER has embedded Medical Imaging Unit comprising a CT-Scan, Digital X-Ray, Ultrasound and Mobile Unit
*Hospital authorities say unit opened at a time of economic depression and flight of doctors from the country
Beirut: The LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital, one of Lebanon’s leading health care institutions, has launched a state-of-the-art Emergency Room spread over 700 square meters.
The ER with an embedded Medical Imaging Unit, including a CT-Scan, Digital X-Ray and Ultrasound and Mobile Unit, will ensure and guarantee medical excellence, efficiency, convenience, and most importantly patients safety, said a statement issued by the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital.
“Despite the economic crisis and all the problems and barriers that are handicapping the medical field and the limitation that they face daily, LAU Medical Center- RIzk hospital launched this new ER department reaffirming its unconditional commitment to Lebanese population and by guaranteeing to always provide them with the best health care services,” the statement said.
The statement added that the ER has been opened at a time when many hospitals have closed their doors and many doctors have decided to leave the country.
At the opening ceremony, LAU president Dr. Michel Mawad said, “Loyal to our promise of healing with compassion, and as a sign of faith and belief in our country, we at LAU Medical Center- Rizk Hospital couldn’t but pursue our quest to provide a world class Emergency services to our beloved Lebanese population.”
The center started in 1925 as a private family-owned clinic, established by Dr Toufic Ibrahim Rizk. On June 30, 2009, The Rizk Family sold the hospital to Medical Care Holding, in which the Lebanese American University (LAU) possesses controlling interests.
It now serves as the primary teaching hospital for LAU’s schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy.
