Dubai, UAE — Dubai has established a new committee to oversee and coordinate the emirate’s official media narrative across government, semi-government and private sector entities, as it seeks to strengthen the consistency of its messaging and reinforce its global profile.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, issued Council Decision No. (16) of 2026 establishing the Dubai Media Narrative Committee.
The committee, chaired by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, will define the overarching framework, strategic priorities and core pillars of Dubai’s media narrative. It will coordinate unified messaging across key sectors, propose policies and priorities, submit recommendations to the Dubai Media Council and oversee their implementation.
The committee will also coordinate media efforts among government, semi-government and private sector entities, guide official engagement with international media and platforms, develop key performance indicators to measure impact, analyse media trends, and prepare reports to support decision-making. It will also advise on media-related matters and help counter misinformation through clear and transparent communication.
Sheikh Ahmed said the committee represented a strategic step toward creating an integrated institutional framework that ensures consistency across Dubai’s key messages and enhances their impact.
“A clear and unified media narrative provides a strategic point of reference grounded in facts, strengthens trust, and further enhances Dubai’s global standing as an inspiring city committed to shaping a future rich with opportunities for all,” he said.
He said Dubai continued to build on the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to develop a competitive media sector capable of communicating the emirate’s progress, inspiring innovation and creating future opportunities.
Mona Al Marri said rapid regional and global changes had increased the need for a coordinated media narrative capable of communicating Dubai’s message effectively to international audiences.
“In today’s world, a strong media narrative is a key driver of strategic influence and an essential tool for building awareness and shaping perceptions,” she said, adding that the committee would develop an effective media narrative through coordinated institutional efforts.
The committee includes Nehal Badri as vice chairperson, alongside senior officials from Dubai Chambers, Digital Dubai, the Dubai Future Foundation, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the DIFC Authority, The Executive Council of Dubai and Abdulla Humaid Belhoul.
The General Secretariat of the Dubai Media Council will provide administrative and technical support, while Dubai government entities and relevant organisations have been directed to cooperate with the committee by providing data, reports and other information needed to carry out its mandate.
