  • The performance of some leading Iranian steel companies indicates they exported 916,236 tons of steel in June
  • This which indicates a growth of 104 percent compared to June 2020

The World Steel Association has said Iran has increased its steel production nearly 10 percent in the first seven months of the current year, according to local reports.

The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization cited the figures, said the local reports.

IMIDRO added that steel production in the country had reached a total of 17.8 million metric tons from the start of January to the end of July.

WSA said the output showed a 9.9 percent increase compared to figures recorded in the similar seven months to July 2020.

Citing WSA data on the global steel output, the reports said Iran had kept its position as the 10th largest producer of steel in the world this year.

Global output rose by 12.4 percent year on year in July to a more than 1.165 billion tons, showed WSA figures.

Iran’s output figures were more promising in July as mills in the country churned out 2.6 million tons of steel, up 9 percent against July 2020.

That comes as global production rose by 3.3 percent to 161.7 million tons, according to WSA figures.

Iran exported 2.78 million tons of finished and semi-finished steel products during the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2021) and earmarked a growth of 128 percent.
