Bahrain launches region’s fastest global sea-to-air logistics hub

Bahrain imports rose by 18 percent in Q4 2021.
  • The hub is said to have a turnaround time of just two hours for all containers
  • This means products can be with customers in half the time and at 40 percent of the cost

Bahrain has launched what it claims to be the fastest multi-modal logistics hub in the region, said local reports on Wednesday, September 29.

The hub is said to have a turnaround time of just two hours for all containers.

This means products can be with customers in half the time and at 40 percent of the cost, said the local reports.

The launch of the Bahrain Global Sea-Air Hub is expected to capitalize on Bahrain’s position midway between European and Asian markets as well as its proximity to regional target markets.

The reports said it could be the most efficient multimodal sea-air transshipment hub in the region with a global reach.

The hub is said to on streamlined clearance procedures, optimized logistics, and full digitization to achieve an end-to-end lead time of just under two hours for goods transiting from Bahrain International Airport to Khalifa bin Salman Port, and vice versa.

These gains reportedly translate to a 50 percent reduction in average lead time compared to pure sea freight and a 40 percent reduction in cost compared to pure air freight.

Bahrain will apparently grant partner status in this initiative to all markets globally, which will allow for granting their nationally-based companies the opportunity to become an authorized Trusted Shipper at the hub.
