Saudi Arabia, UK discuss education cooperation

Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom have held discussions on education cooperation, according to official sources.

The discussions took place on Monday, October 18, between Saudi Education Minister Hamad bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh and the UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Education Sir Steve Smith, said the sources.

Several officials from both countries attended the meeting.

The two are said to have discussed ways of enhancing educational, academic, and research cooperation.

They also reportedly talked about sharing the best practices and expertise between the two countries.

The meeting addressed the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the UK on education, fields of cooperation in public education, developing curricula, and the program of the courses system for secondary education.

They also discussed joint efforts in the education of talented students and students with disabilities.

The talks are also said to have covered cooperation in university education, scientific research, and accrediting academic qualifications, besides academic and research partnerships among both countries’ universities.

They also discussed enhancing cooperation in integrated education and remote education.

Both sides addressed achieved successes of the educational partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

This was apparently the result of the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz to Britain in 2018.

During that visit, the two countries signed a joint communique that saw the launch of the Strategic Partnership Council between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
