Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abu-Gheit warned Sunday that unless serious peace talks resume, the situation could explode in the Palestinian territories.
The Palestinian people would not stand still for a long time and the situation could blow up, Abu-Gheit said at a joint news conference with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah following the Kuwait-hosted 156th Arab ministerial meeting.
He urged the international community, “not only the United States”, to press Israel to return to peace talks.
On the Arab ministerial meeting, the Arab League chief said that the meeting discussed the overall situation in the Arab region, foreign interference in Arab domestic affairs and the impact of international events on Arab causes.
