Abu Dhabi, UAE — Rapid advances in AI technologies have created a major challenge for the media sector: the difficulty of keeping up with these developments that require specific ethics, according to a media expert.
Professor Charlie Beckett, Professor of Practice, Director of Polis and the Polis/LSE JournalismAI project at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) told WAM that the significance of digital media in delivering information and content with a single click has increased.
He said the Global Media Congress, which was held in the Emirates, was an ideal opportunity for global media entities to come together to showcase their innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Beckett said AI applications have evolved from ChatGPT and the Metaverse to other modern applications at an accelerated pace and it was important to keep pace with AI technologies.
Despite the great warnings about it being a double-edged sword, these technologies remain an important mechanism for producing huge content and services using AI algorithms, he said and added that “the most important thing for everyone is to start dealing with AI and become more acquainted with its updates”.
