Israel’s Defence Minister Benny Gantz told his French counterpart his country took “seriously” espionage allegations concerning the Pegasus software developed by Israeli firm NSO that is suspected of targeting President Emmanuel Macron and other French officials.
Gantz addressed the NSO issue when he met French Defence Minister Florence Parly and said that “Israel is taking the allegations seriously,” according to an Israeli defence ministry statement.

The head of Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee is already on record to having said that Israel has established a committee to review allegations that NSO Group’s controversial Pegasus phone surveillance software was misused.
Pegasus is the hacking software that is developed, marketed and licensed to governments around the world by the Israeli company NSO Group. It can infect billions of phones running either iOS or Android operating systems.
Once installed on a phone, the spyware can mine SMS messages, address books, call history, calendars, emails and internet browsing histories can all be exfiltrated.
