Saudi Dakar rally 2024 concludes with participation of 778 drivers, co-drivers

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The city of Yanbu witnessed on Friday evening the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of Saudi Dakar Rally, and the 46th in the history of the world rally, after an exciting competition for 14 days in 12 stages, with a distance exceeding the 7,500 km.

778 drivers and co-drivers participated navigating a fleet of 434 vehicles in 6 categories: cars, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or quads, desert Challenger vehicles, Side by Side (SxS) light commercial desert vehicles, and trucks.

Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of SAMF and SMC, crowned the winners of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2024. The competition featured contestants in six diverse categories. Spanish driver Carlos Sainz, from team “Audi,” clinched the title for the fourth time in the car category, marking his second win in the Kingdom. Sainz achieved a historic feat by winning with an electric car from four different manufacturers, securing the victory with a lead of one hour, 20 minutes, and 25 seconds.

Guillaume de Mévius, the Belgian rally driver, secured second place, while the French rally driver Sébastien Loeb came in third, trailing by one hour, 25 minutes, and 12 seconds.
