EHS launches Risk Management & Patient Safety smart system

    • The coverage is through a recently-launched new smart system for risk management and patient safety

    • The system aims to improve quality programs through by providing a complete overview of a patient on a single platform

The Emirates Health Services has covered 17 hospitals and 73 primary healthcare centers across the UAE with its smart system, said local reports on Tuesday, July 20.

The coverage is through a recently-launched new smart system for risk management and patient safety, said the local reports.

The system by EHS reportedly aims to improve quality programs through by providing a complete overview of a patient on a single platform.

It also supports the submission of occasional accident reports and patient-safety outcomes, said the reports about what they claimed was the largest project of its kind.

Apart from the expected positive impact on patient-safety culture, the new platform represents a value-addition to the existing treatment protocols and work outputs in health facilities, as well as to the efficacy of communication between health organizations and EHS in relation to occasional accidents and the automation of its reporting mechanism, especially in the event of major accidents, said the reports.

The project is reportedly being implemented in cooperation with Radar Healthcare.

It is expected to play a role in finding improvement opportunities in the risk-management and performance-improvement system to help develop in-depth improvement plans.

The program also reportedly unifies organizational and operational processes, including accident management, auditing, self-assessment, action plans, improvement, risk management, staff training, medical file management, and the implementation of quality standards.

It may be noted that the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry had predicted the country’s healthcare sector to generate revenues to the tune of $10.7 billion in 2021.

Whether EHS’ new system affects that prediction positively or negatively remains to be seen.
