Dubai, UAE — The United States launched a fresh round of strikes against Iran late on Monday, targeting military command centres, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities and air defence systems after Tehran said it had attacked U.S. military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, France24 reported.
The latest U.S. operation marked the 10th consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran, with the military saying the attacks were aimed at degrading Tehran’s ability to continue attacking commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
“U.S. forces struck Iranian military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems to degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial vessels flowing through the Strait of Hormuz,” U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X, according to the report.
Earlier, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had struck U.S. military targets, including air defence systems, radar installations and other military assets at two American outposts in Bahrain, according to state news agency IRNA.
The Guards also said they targeted missile defence systems, radar facilities and satellite reception systems at U.S. positions in Kuwait.
“With this radar sweep, the enemy should prepare for even more decisive and powerful waves of drone and missile attacks,” the Guards said in a statement carried by IRNA.
Iran’s army separately said it had targeted three major U.S. bases in Kuwait with kamikaze drones, the report said.
The U.S. State Department on Monday issued a worldwide security alert, urging American citizens to exercise increased caution because of heightened tensions in the Middle East.
The department warned that the security environment remained volatile and advised Americans outside the Middle East to reconsider travel to and through the region because of the potential for further escalation and possible attacks targeting U.S. diplomatic facilities or locations associated with Americans worldwide.
Elsewhere, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun was due to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Tuesday as pressure mounted on Beirut to disarm Hezbollah before Israel withdraws from areas it occupies in southern Lebanon, France24 reported.
Earlier on Monday, Trump said Iran would pay “many times over” for the killing of U.S. service members, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country was in a “full-scale war” with the United States, according to France24.
