GACA and Volar to build UAE’s first Green Aviation Technology Center

Montreal, Canada — The General Civil Aviation Authority (GACA) and Volar Air Mobility have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the UAE’s first Green Aviation Technology Hub, marking an important step in the country’s efforts towards environmental sustainability and aviation innovation.

“The signing of the MoU took place on the sidelines of the UAE’s participation in the first ICAO Advanced Air Mobility Symposium, which was held in Montreal, Canada, and concluded on September 12,” the authority said.

The Green Aviation Technology Center aims to promote clean energy solutions, support research and development in sustainable aviation technologies, and enhance international cooperation in this vital file, and its development comes within the framework of the UAE’s future strategic directions to become a global leader in green technology and reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), said: “This MoU reflects our commitment to developing sustainable aviation and supporting the national strategy to reduce carbon emissions. The Green Aviation Centre will play a pivotal role in developing innovative solutions for a more growing, sustainable and greener future.”

Henry Howey, Chairman of Volar Mobility, said: “We are excited to partner with the GCAA in establishing this innovative centre. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of green aviation technologies, and this partnership will contribute to the creation of a center of excellence for sustainable air mobility in the UAE.”
