Saudi employers can now issue residence, work permits on quarterly basis

Saudi Arabia has announced new permit procedure.
  • The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and General Directorate of Passports have started the service.
  • The General Directorate of Passports stated that this service can be availed through the Absher Business and Muqeem platforms.

Saudi Arabia has announced a new procedure that allows employers to renew residence permits, work permits and financial compensation for a minimum period of three months.
The employers can issue permits for a varying period of three to 12 months, with the exception of domestic workers.
Local media reports said the new procedure has been started by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Passports, and the Ministry of Human Resources & Social Development.
The General Directorate of Passports stated that this service can be availed through the Absher Business and Muqeem platforms.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said the service regarding work permits can be used through Qiwa Platform and the electronic portal for labor services.
